We are headed to PR for 4 +/- days in early January.

Looking for advice as to where to stay, including which part of the island. We are hoping for a mini tropical vacation. Would love to be able to swim in the ocean. A nice pool is a welcome amenity as well.

Also, is the Rainforest open? Thoughts on other things to do for this family of 3 (mom/dad/11year old son). We love snorkeling, but not sure that is an option.

We typically go to Maui or Kauai, but have an event on January 8th in PR.

I would recommend Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort -
either a timeshare exchange or hotel booking

La concha hotel is where we stayed 1st trip about 5-6 years ago. Last year we rented a penthouse unit on the beach thru VRBO in San Juan that was awesome!!! There were lots of choices on AirBnB as well.

Not sure how everything faired thru Hurricane Maria last year, but things to do include Old San Juan, Rainforest, Zip Lining, Bioluminescent Bay(which I haven't done yet) and lots of beaches. My wife and I rented a car and drove through a lot of island. I would go back in a heartbeat a third time. Still lots we have not gotten to yet.

Wharf in Hot Springs.
We stayed at the El Conquestador in Fajardo in 2014. It is near the Bio Bay and a short drive to San Juan and El Jungue National Park. This place has it's own island for it's guests with shuttle boats going out all day. We canoed the Bio Bay one night. That was cool. Back then we were able to spearfish but I think that option is gone now. Hope this helps. We are planning a trip for 6 to 8 for this April (2 - 8) and hoping to find someone willing to trade. We own in Hot Springs Arkansas during the horse racing season.

If ur into BEAUTIFUL beaches, take ferry to Culebra or Vieques...Ferries leave from Fajardo...You'll be able to snorkel...

Haven't been there in years..Not sure of damage from hurricane
