RCI Points is a separate inventory than RCI Weeks inventory.

Anaheim ... is that a resort or a city?

If it is a resort, does it have RCI Points inventory as MOST RCI resorts are just RCI Weeks. Weeks and Points are different systems and different inventory ... weeks is TPUs like 15 or 36 or 80 for a 7 night trade. RCI Points is big numbers like 36,000 or 84,000 (week numbers) and can be booked via the day or 7 nights.

97,000+ RCI Points is for a very high week & unit size value. Week 10 in Florida is usually good Spring Break week.

anaheim is near Disneyland, the resorts are wyndham and worldmark. I apologize, I'm still on a (somewhat less) steep learning curve

Some of the Wyndham resort have both memberships active. Each resort type actually owns separate units ... and might have slightly different décor.

I just did a random check in Anaheim. A one bedroom, depending upon the timing through the end of 2017, ranged from 26,500 to 44,500 points for exchange.

Wow! It seems that the 97,000 points would make Anaheim easily doable. Is banking and trading fairly simple? Or is a lesson in roulette?

If you can be flexible about dates, it's a lot simpler. You can create an on-going search that will let you know when something comes up.
I just searched for the three resorts available, and there are 23 one-bedroom swaps available between the end of August and the first week of January.

And by the way, the current points balance is 180,000. 97,500 of those expire on the first of July, but can be extended for another year with $125 fee. If extended, that would give the account a balance of 277,500. I do encourage you to check out rci.com, because there are fees to use the points. I just want to make sure you are aware of all of RCI's quirks.
