We are in the outer banks this week. Yesterday we ventured into the ocean. Not too cold but still cool enough to be refreshing. This is the 4th week in about 7 years. The ocean is the calmest and clearest it has ever been. Gentle waves only. We could see our feet to a depth of just about 3 ft. Also we could see little fish swimming around at waist level when out to shoulder depth. We are in Kill Devil Hills and the erosion is not bad this year.

We are staying at High Dunes and will write a review for the review section later this week. I will be in OC, MD next week and Myrtle Beach the following week and finishing off the 4th week at Massanutten.

Looking for a low key restaurant or eatery with great fresh catch seafood. Any recommendations? Also looking for a good fresh catch seafood market in Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills or Kitty Hawk.

We are planning on checking out the boardwalk in Duck tonight.

We always go to Dirty Dick's Crab House. I always get crabs...so I can't vouch for other stuff (except the hush puppies... my daughter LOVES those)

We have two timeshares in the OBX, Outer Banks Beach Club II and The Golden Strand, and we always look forward to going there. Our favorite market is O'Neals in Wanchese but it is a bit of a drive. We like going over there just for the drive as it is a working village with fishing boats and boat builders plus we get lunch at O'Neals too - you won't find any fresher. http://onealsseaharvest.com/ Closer is Austin in Nags Head. http://austinseafoodco.com/
For restaurants we always go to:
Kill Devil Grill The wife would eat every lunch there if she could http://thekilldevilgrill.com/cms/
Fishheads On a pier, best ocean view of any restaurant https://www.fishheadsobx.com
Tale of the Whale This one is for the night we want to go to a nice restaurant. Go before 5 and it is 20% off (10% off for seniors anytime) http://taleofthewhalenagshead.com/
Jennette's Pier is the state owned pier and is very nice. Sometimes we will bring in a cooler with wine or beer (the policy is they don't check coolers-they turn a blind eye to responsible drinking) and crab cake sandwiches from Fat Guys down the road and go upstairs to the balcony area. Often it is rented for wedding receptions etc but if not, it is a nice place to spend the afternoon. http://www.ncaquariums.com/jennettes-pier-about-us

Enjoy the beach.

Will you have any pics to add to the review? They were supposed to upload pictures of the unit interiors since they renovated, but seem to be having issues with doing that.

I look forward to your review.

Nice hot beach weather

I can try to take a few pictures. I did notice the sofa, love seat, and chair were new. The master bathroom shower is new. Everything else seems to be pretty much as I remember it from 3 year ago.

It's a 3-year special assessment project; more to come with parking, pool deck, boardwalk, etc.

We ate at Tale of a Whale and it was very good. Arrived at 4:20pm for the early bird and was out by 5:30pm very full and very satisfied.

The pool deck looks like it was probably done. Nothing fancy but I am sure it isn't a cheap project and probably needs to be done every couple of years.

I also like the Tale of the Whale. For a fantastic restaurant off the beaten path go to The Colington Cafe. It never disappoints.

Billy's Seafood in Colington is good for fresh seafood.

Enjoy!
