It started with a m 6.2 west of Coos Bay. Then there are a couple others, m 2.5 west of Eureka CA and a m 2.8 west of Seaside OR.

It seems no one is reporting these. Probably because its peak tourist season on the Oregon Coast.

What they've been saying on the Seattle news is the quakes are along the convergence of the Juan de Fuca and the Pacific plates. These types of earthquakes are far enough out to sea as to not cause damage on shore, and they don't cause tsunamis. So there isn't a lot of news to report about them, other than that they happened.

They could be so slight as to just rattle the dishes- like a big truck rumbling by- and nobody gave it a notice. Those little shakers along the plates' edges let off pressure and delay the 'big one'. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Or they are precursors to the big one. No one knows with earthquakes until they happen, not even the experts. Lots of educated (and very uneducated) guesses is all we have.

I get alerts sent to my phone for the bigger earthquakes. It seems the ring of fire is particularly active of late, but that's purely anectodal from my perception. Not sure if that's technically true. Experts all agree the big one in CA is long overdue.

Hard to say for sure but the PNW is due for a big earthquake in the coastal area. The last big one was the Nisqually quake in 2001 at m 6.8. This same region had a m 9 back in the 1700's. Anything over m 6 is interesting to me especially when it is on the Pacific Coast.

No, imo, because Yellowstone is capped by a fragment of the Juan de Fuca Plate and an eruption would need to move to the outer edge. This is what has historically happened with volcanic activity from Yellowstone eruptions.

Earthquake might be a different story.

I learned quite a bit from watching Dutchsinse earthquake forecasting models on YouTube.

He often mentions that government agencies underreport or downgrade magnitudes of earthquakes on a regular basis.

I watch it periodically too. Interesting ideas, bit of an odd duck character, who has a checkered Youtube past, but who I think has looked at this for a long time and has interesting patterns to share. The fact that he is pissing off professional scientist types makes me think he is on to something. Everyone with a new idea is ridiculed at first.

A guy from MO. named Mike Janitch is Dutchsinse. He is unemployed and does receive SSD, reportedly for mental illness. His main topics include pole shift, weather modification through the HAARP program, emergency management groups like FEMA , planetary alignments, natural disasters and many other interesting things.

Many of his videos are based on other peoples videos including his own fabrications. He manufactures fake blogs, videos and impersonates other people to support his videos. He has been caught doing this multiple times.

Personally, I find his videos interesting but in an entertainment type of way. Some of his ideas are based on sound science but some isn't. Oddly, he has seemed to have predicted many events some what accurately.

Bottom line for me on this guy is he is an internet entertainer, not a scientist.
