One Thing You Should Always Check after You Buy Airline Tickets

Thankfully a TPGreader was diligent about checking her ticket, and by doing so, she caught an issue affecting tickets at the world’s largest airline.

TPG reader Heather K. — a veteran of booking flights through the Chase travel portal — noticed something odd when she purchased an American Airlines ticket recently through the portal. Here’s what she said happened:......"

IOW, returning from your destination before you depart for it.
I did that once, and ended up paying change fees to correct it.

You don't get 24hrs to change or cancel your flight for free if you book with some 3rd party booking sites as DH found out a few months ago! He found a very cheap airfare for our trip home from Belize next spring and booked it without consulting me (I was out at the time) or reading the fine print. I am usually the one making all the travel plans and he was so proud of getting the cheap airfare and he was excited to show me when I got home. The flight he booked had a 2hr layover in Washington DC except that the incoming flight landed at Dulles and the next flight left from Regan! He hadn't seen that (& actually didn't know there were 2 airports in DC!) before he booked even though when I went to (pretend) book the same flights a big warning popped up.

After a long pleading phone call with the booking agency we were able to change flights for a small charge. So now we are changing planes in Denver -not really the most direct route from BZE to YYZ! But the price was right (even with the extra charge)! DH has been banned from booking any other travel arrangements unless I am sitting with him!

What airline was this?

Delta. I didn't notice for 2 wks. The change fee was only $25/tkt.
This was many years ago, when online booking was in its infancy.
Delta might've waived the fees, but I was too embarrassed to ask.

Ok, thanks! I was a little worried that something like this would happen in this day and time, but even now purchaser always be aware.
