    Norwegian Air debuts WiFi service

    By Robert Silk / Aviation / Travel Weekly / Travelweekly.com / Jan 8, 2019

“Norwegian Air has placed its first WiFi-equipped long-haul aircraft into service.

With the introduction, the carrier said it has become the first low-cost airline to offer free WiFi on transatlantic flights.

The carrier will offer two WiFi plans on long-haul routes. The Basic option is free and allows customers to browse the web, send emails and text on their personal devices. The Premium option, which will debut at an introductory price of $14.95 for three hours, is fast enough to enable streaming of music, television shows and movies.

Norwegian Air said it would have WiFi installed on more than half of its fleet of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners by 2020 and that it will begin rolling out WiFi on its narrowbody transatlantic Boeing 737 Max 8 fleet this month. The carrier currently has 24 787-9s and 14 Max 8s.

Norwegian flies more than 50 routes between the U.S. and Europe and will service 17 U.S. destinations this year.”
