"To start: It's the only international flight for the Southern city.
It's been a good month for Charleston, South Carolina. The newly minted
"best small city in the U.S." (for the eighth year) per
Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards just received its first-ever nonstop flights to Europe. British Airways announced yesterday that starting next spring, it will fly twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, between London Heathrow and Charleston. Not only is this the first trans-Atlantic route for Charleston—it's the only
international route, period. The seasonal service will start April 4, 2019, and run through October 24 on Boeing 787-Dreamliners.

press release "British Airways Starts Dancing the Charleston," the airline raved: "You can’t help but get sucked in to the old-world charm of Charleston; its cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and historical buildings make it a unique city," says Sean Doyle, British Airways’ director of network and alliances. "Recently we launched flights to
Nashville and
New Orleans and earlier this year announced a new route to Pittsburgh. Traveling to the states is as popular as ever." Who knew?....."
