I have an RCI hold on a 5 nitr stay after Christmas in NOLA. Our last night will be over NYE. It's a hotel size unit at the Hyatt, so will have to be eating out all the time. We're not party goers and I don't drink. But DH wants to see NOLA sometime. Is this too busy a time to go there?

    Thanks!

If you will not be participating in the revelry, I would opt for another, less intense, time to visit New Orleans.

College Sugar Bowl game is Jan 1, 2020 in NOLA... huge crowds, but not just college-age. My first visit to NOLA was over New Year's Eve. It was a great time. We did it again about 6 years ago. If you're not into crowds and lots of partying, you may want to consider another time. But if you're not staying in the French Quarter, you may be okay just visiting that area during the day.

If you decide to go... in Jackson Square they drop the fleur de lis (instead of a ball) from the top of the JAX Brewery at midnight on NYE.

Jackson Square on NYE is the biggest crowd I've ever been in (or care to be). The crowd is not all Sugar Bowl crazies but it is enhanced by them, for sure.

Thanks Chapjim and Free2Roam for your thoughts. For those and other reasons, I decided not to proceed with the exchange, and let the hold expire.

My first time in NO was also for New Years 1988. Started going back on NYE about 6 years ago. The crowds are fun and if you go to eat early and return to your room before too late it is fabulous. We love it that time of year. I don't drink either. Husband does love football and there is such football atmosphere that also makes it enjoyable.

I have been to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl twice. A very good time! But I don't mind crowds and do drink, so if you are not into either of those things you may not enjoy it as much as I did!
