Unfortunately I found TUG about a week after the rescind date. But fortunate to still find this site, learn a ton, and want to make the most out of it.

Despite the obvious negatives from buying from the developer, a few of the positives in my specific case:

-Only purchased EOY - probably look to expand in the future (resale of course)
-Nanea has the flexibility to book home options with check in any day of the week and for less than a full week. (This is actually a huge deal for me).

Negatives:
-just gave vistana a huge chunk of cash
-higher maintenance fees
-zero resale value but hoping to keep for a long time.

Now I want to add a mandatory resale with lower MF, but I need to tell myself to hold off for a year or two to try this whole TS out. Historically I’ve been a value shopper for vacation deals but with small kids getting to point of needing further out planning.

Thanks TUG for the vast amount of info I’ve gained in such a short time..

Same boat as you. Purchased Hilton in HHV from the developer several months before I found this site. Trying to hold off on purchasing a resale until I try the whole timeshare thing out.

I’m actually looking at buying into vistana resale so I can have access to Maui and Kauai. Where you staying at Nanea or the older villa? Where you able to use all of the pools?? If so which one did you like best ?

We were staying at the south, or WKORV. It was our third time there on referral from my sister who own. We did use all pools, Nanea after the tour, which was my kids (2 and 5) favorite. I read somewhere here that access to/from nanea may change, but that didn't seam like it was happening.

What I noticed is that presidents week was pretty much impossible to book Maui for next year at the 8 month mark, so if holiday weeks are important, may want to buy there. Nanea was no problem for the 4th of July week as an owner, but I'm hoping to switch to a 1-bedroom at the 8 month time (want more days, less bedroom).

Welcome to TUG. I agree with the approach to “lets try this TS thing out” before adding/changing anything. You need to fully understand and education yourself on what you have purchased first. This is going to take some time.

Welcome to Tug. Many of us, including me, purchased our first timeshare from a developer. Learn and maximize your use and you will have years of enjoyment.
