Welcome! I am fairly new here too so I usually don’t give advice, but I’d like to break the good news to you! You can buy a timeshare in Orlando super cheap! There are tons of options especially because you are okay with 2+ star resorts. Many Orlando TS are given away for free. I’m not sure about maintenance fees around $800 bc you will need a 2br for 5-6 people but I think you can get pretty close! I haven’t stayed in any TS in Orlando so I cant recommend specific resorts. I’m sure others will have many suggestions for you. Good luck to you. This group is great!

Your 'wish list' is easy. And with exception of coastal California, easy, cheap rentals and exchanges. The snag will be your limited MF cost. Otoh, your happiness with 2 star properties will help keep costs down. I would just watch eBay for the ubiquitous $1 auctions, paying attention to MF & occupancy limits. Another good strategy is to keep your buy-in money and rent. Watch TUG last minute rentals & Marketplace (blue stripe above here) or redweek.com.

    I would just add:
WHY are you interested in buying a timeshare?

Your primary motivation should be the main guide for determining what will suit you best.
