My friend upgraded his Vistana Flex Program at a recent sales presentation. He was promised a 2 year reservation window at all Vistana Resorts, starpoints good for 6 years, he went from 96,000 something star options to 130,000 something star options, I believe he paid an additional $10,000 for all of this. Does this mean he is considered an owner at all Vistana Resorts?? On resale, do all resorts stay with this program??

Your friend has been confused by a "Sales Presentation"
The only Vistana owners with 2 year reservations are those with fixed weeks fixed units and they are auto reserved.
Everyone in the Visana programs can reserve anywhere in the system but this is at 8 months.
Owners can reserve at 12 mo at their home resort/view and Flex owners can reserve at 12 mo in their "Home Group".
Inventory is kept separate and since there will be many many Flex owners vying for the same highly desired weeks they will have a hard time reserving at 12 mo for highly desirable (Hawaii/Colorado) properties and weeks (Presidents, spring break etc.).
What seems to be a lot of points is the new 3 X the old points and not anything special. BY RESALE at mandatory properties (search this forum)

He was still discussing Star Options. Those didn’t increase by 3x.
It’s not that great of a deal to spend $10k to get 40,000 Star Options though.
And no, on resale those do not transfer to use other properties. You need to buy a Mandatory resort. Flex is Voluntary. As ValleyGirl recommends, your friend should rescind and buy mandatory resale.

Tell your friend to rescind if he still can. He was duped (and confused) by the salesperson.
Otherwise, thanks for keeping the boat afloat.

    +1

Start with the fact that he says that he was promised a 2 year reservation window at all Vistana properties. We all know that is an impossibility. Either the salesperson lied to him (likely) or he didn't understand what the salesperson did say (also likely).

Help your friend rescind. Now. That's what friends are for.
