I dropped interval for quite a few years and picked back up because we have some weddings coming up this year & thought I might use it.

So I started an OGS today using request first. I am looking in Hawaii for April 2019. Well, I put in a lot of options on all 4 islands and since I entered the search this afternoon, My son & fiance decided that they wanted a week on Maui and then a week on Kauai. I was going to go in and refine the request and since this afternoon, it has already matched. Unfortunately, it is for a week on the big island which isn't going to work.. I don't think I entered the dates incorrectly but I may forget how it needs to be done. I am pretty sure I put dates of 4/12 through 4/26 as my travel dates and it matched a week for 4/7 through 4/14. I will call tomorrow but wondered if that is a date that would cause an automatic match?

I assume if it matches your resort list and time frame they do not call or notify you? I did purchase the retrade but since it just matched today hopefully I won't have to use it.

Any tips anyone has are appreciated

When you call to cancel, just tell the agent the dates that you need. The dates revert to the previous Thursday on II, so that the system can match any day of the entire upcoming weekend. The system should not have matched 4/7 if 4/12 was the start date.
Remove the Big Island resorts. If you don't get what you want, you may want to add them back in February or so.

OGS search dates do revert to the preceding Thutsday. So if you select Friday 4/12 as the start date for your search, that would include Thursday 4/11.

The workaround is to phone Interval. An agent can specify that your search begins on a specific date. For example, I wanted to place an OGS for Phuket, but only a Sat or Sun check-in would fit my plans. An agent was able to put that in for me.
