My 10,000 Post

This is my 10,000 post on TUG. My journey started in 2005.

I would liked to Thanks everyone on this website for putting up with my ramblings thoughts and my many misspell words.

PLus my username is very special to me; I wanted to remember/honor my five (5) friends that were all killed in the Vietnam Conflict. They were all young college graduates; and all were born in the year 1947. Just liked me.

This website have been great for me. I have made many unseen friends, saved some money and the information about timeshare, health issues, retirement, etc., have been Outstanding.

Hi Pedro47,

Congrats on reaching 10,000!

Your honoring your friends who were killed in Viet Nam has special meaning for me too. I was in US Air Force boot camp when the Gulf of Tonkin Incident happened and President Johnson escalated the war. I was sent to Greenville, Mississippi for Combat Medic Training - next stop, Viet Nam. The top 10 students in the class were selected for additional training. I was in that group and we were sent to Montgomery, Alabama. We arrived about 2 weeks before school was to start. During that 2 week interim, a slot came open for a Dental X-Ray Tech at Homestead AFB, Homestead, Fl and I was sent to fill that slot. I remained at Homestead AFB for my remaining 4 year tour. So by luck, I did not go to Viet Nam. However, several of my friends did and 2 did not come back. That's why I feel a special bond with you.

While at Homestead AFB, I went to night-school and completed a year of college at Miami-Dade Jr College (now Miamii-Dade College). The way the system worked then, you paid for the course you took and if you received an A in the course, you were reimbursed for the cost. I worked hard and got Straight A's. When I left the USAF, I enrolled as a sophmore at Case Western Reserve University. I used the GI Bill to help pay for my education. I think the GI Bill is one of the best programs our Government has implemented.

So again Pedro47, congrats.
