Ever since we bought Grande Vista back in 2007, it has been our favorite Orlando resort. We did visit all the others except for Sabal Palms. We do of course like Lakeshore Reserve but have always loved visiting our home resort of Grande Vista, mostly on an exchange or getaway, never as a home resort stay.

We just got back from two nights at Sheraton Vistana Villages. I must say that we were mighty impressed. We had booked a 1BR Deluxe and were placed in the Key West section. They had indicated that the villas had recently been renovated and I must say that they looked great. The furnishings and everything was very well done. Great screened in patio, laundry and kitchen facilities. Minus an oven. One pain point was the dumb sliding door to the bathroom in to the hallway that was a pain to open and close.

We went to the Key West pool the first afternoon and evening we were there and stayed in the pool until 9:00pm when we realized we had to go out to eat. We then went to the Bella pool the next day but quickly returned to the Key West pool as it was just too busy and noisy over there. Loved how quiet and laid back the Key West pool was.

We will definitely be returning to SVV at some point in the future, perhaps before we make the trip back to Grande Vista.

I have to say I was shocked to find that there was no laundry in the Grande Vista studio and thought the kitchenette really lacked. I stayed there as a last minute certificate stay with my daughter and was little disappointed comparing it to the Sheraton.

It depends where they put you at Vistana Villages. We stayed in the Bella section, right by the big playground. Now my granddaughter (whose nickname is Bella) would love being right by the playground. I wasn't so happy about the noise at 9 AM, since it's 7 AM Denver time. But it was still a nice unit, not fancy like the one we had in the St. Augustine section last time. LOVED that unit, and our daughter-in-law was so impressed with it. Her family is only about Marriott. Her parents bought Ko Olina years ago.

I agree it depends on where they put you. We have been there twice. The first time I was impressed by the unit, the second time we were in a different section and …..UGH.....it was not good. We were not in the Key West section either time.

Vistana Villages is a great resort! The only thing I don't like is the left turn onto I-Drive with no light. Sometimes it's a tough gig.

Next time if traffic is heavy, turn right, go up to the next cutover (at Worldmark) and hang a U turn. So much quicker and safer than waiting. With the wide boulevards in many parts of Orlando, I will do this fairly often.

Of course I do that when traffic is heavy, but I'm afraid someone is gonna get creamed. People pull out into the middle of the road waiting for a chance to cut in, and they are hanging out in the fast lanes.

I love Key West , so quiet and private , minus a restaurant , but that's why you have kitchen , right? They were renovating it last year in July , when we were there. The contractor was from Pennsylvania , and the guys came down with a motorbicycle!

So happy to hear that! We own at Vistana Villages and just got back. We almost always stay in Key West, we love how quiet and tropical it is...feels almost like a different resort! And I agree; they really did a nice job renovating the villas. We used to like the villas in St. Augustine the most, but I like this renovation better. Bella, on the other hand, isn't our cup of tea anymore!
