We will be spending a week (3/30/18 - 4/6/18) in Gautier, Mississippi this spring. We have never visited this part of the country and plan on seeing as many sights as possible. We have no issues driving 2 - 3 hours one way to see things. We plan on spending at least a day in New Orleans and maybe another day taking a two hour trip east to see the historic fort on one of the small islands off the Florida coast. Other than that we have nothing planned. Those that are familiar with the area do you have any must do activities that we should consider. Their will be two retired couples on the trip if that helps with suggestions. Neither of us enjoy casinos, but we all enjoy the ocean, especially my wife.

Thanks,
Dave

The World War II Museum in New Orleans is really good if you like that kind of thing.

We loved the WWII Museum in NOLA. However to do it properly (and not just run through it to say you have been there) takes at least 2 days.

An excursion to Ship Island is really nice (if they are open in April). There is a fort there plus you have the turquoise water and white sandy beaches. I think there is a Nat'l Park on Ship Island. There is also Beauvoir, Jefferson Davis's last home. Also there are museums for George Ohr( the mad potter of Biloxi) and Walter Anderson. There are also quaint little arty towns like Ocean Springs and others. Contact tourist offices in some of the towns to get latest information. There are festivals almost every weekend at this time of year. April is a great time to visit the South
