In trying to find out why I can no longer see availability at any Grand Mayan resorts in my RCI weeks I emailed RCI. I explained that one day I combined deposits and placed a ongoing search request. The next day and from that day forward I have not been able to see any Grand Mayan resorts.
The response I received today stated that
" Your home resort imposes a one-in-five year restriction which applies to all RCI members, including Grand Mayan owners."
It went on to say
" This information was included in the "Urgent Information" provided online which you had to accept before completing your confirmation."

I always read the Urgent Information of an exchange. I know that the Urgent info always stated that the 1 in 5 did not apply to Mayan owners.

My question is, has this changed for Grand Mayan Resorts? I can not check myself because I can no longer see any Grand Mayan Resorts

You might want to try the RCI MP owners' phone line at 877-724-1001. That's the most recent # I have.

There are a lot of Grand mayan Weeks available that I can see using my weeks account. However I have never been there so the 1 in 5 doesn't apply to me.

Hiya, I was curious how this 1 in 5 rule would apply to me as well... I recently booked GM thru points even tho I am a weeks owner at MP. I wanted to see if I could book another week and saw a warning online about the fact that I had booked there recently within 5 years.... I asked RCI and this was their reply.. hope this helps. Paul

Thank you for your e-mail.

Since you own at a Mayan Resort, you may confirm more than once every five years. Since your ownership for Mayan Resorts is on your RCI Weeks account and not your RCI Points account the website will not let you confirm online. To have a Mayan Resort held or confirmed for you please call 1-877-968-7476.

If you are traveling this year, the 1 in 5 rule has been suspended for travel during 2011.

This is the disclaimer I see for GM NV. Hope it helps.

You can only confirm one Mayan resort in a 5 year period. Two units maximum either concurrent or consecutive allowed. Guest certificate required for the second unit, but is not necessary on consecutive confirmations if account holder is travelling. Violations will be cancelled. Close date confirmations 48 hours prior to arrival are not accepted. A state lodging tax of 3% charged. Important: Mayan owners traveling to Mayan must deposit a week to exchange. Extra vacations to Mayan are not allowed.

Thank you all

Thank you for the help
I was concerned there had been a change in RCI/Mayan Policy because I had 2 weeks confirmed for Feb after exchanging into same resort in Feb 2010 and Feb 2011. Return email from RCI stated 1 in 5 restriction applied to Mayan owners also and my reservations already confirmed for next Feb were at risk.
After the responses here I called RCI Mayan # and I was assured that Mayan owners have no restrictions on number or frequency of exchanges into any Mayan resorts. Which was my understanding until I receiver email from the uninformed RCI rep.

This is the message I got from RCI on April 7 when I asked specifically about GM RM:

Hello,

Thank you for your e-mail.

The 1 in 5 rule has been suspended for The Grand Mayan Riviera Maya for
2011.

Kind regards,

We're booked at GM Riviera Maya for Dec. 2011

We did NOT receive any notification regarding the 1 in 5 rule being suspended for our December 2011 booking at the Grand Mayan. We exchanged via RCI. The resort looks lovely and we would likely go again within 5 years if we were able to. :0) Should I call or email RCI to get clarification and keep the email 'just in case?'
