knee is actually two months old. Luckily I fell in the grass. I sat there for ten minutes til someone came by to help me up. I am icing it now, I was able to walk in the house with no pain. What do I need to watch for.

My doctor told me that my replacement knee is very sturdy, so you probably don't have to worry about the new parts, but if the surrounding tissue continues to be painful or if there's excessive swelling, you should call and ask if they want you to come in. In the mean time, rest, ice, and elevation. If you can take ibuprofen, that should reduce the inflamation.

I fell on mine a few years ago, also at about the 2 month point. Came down hard on the knee on a hardwood floor. Scared the heck out of me, but was a bit sore for only a few days and there hasn't seemed to be any lasting effects. Think those things must be pretty tough.

I've fallen on mine a few times. One time I was stepping down backwards from a moving van, and my foot missed the step. I went another twelve inches or so, and hit hard on my foot, with my leg straight. So it "jammed" things. Scared the dickens out of me. But other than rattling me, I was fine. If you notice swelling or any discoloration, maybe call your doctor and ask if you should be seen. But otherwise, I'd say you'll likely be okay. As Doug says, they must be pretty tough.

Sorry you fell!

Dave

Wouldn't it be smart to either talk to the Dr. or at least an advice nurse. Get the proper information on knees. I wouldn't ask a medical forum for timeshare information.

These are all people who have had knee replacement, they actually have given better advice than my doctor about rehab. If it hurts during night I will call in am.

I use this same logic when my chest hurts. I go to the junk yard. Hardly anybody dies in a junk yard, but they have to keep hearses at the hospital to take away the corpses. If I'm still alive in the morning, I just go home. So far, so good. You can't argue with success!

(Sarcasm, just another service cheerfully provided)

The fact that mine survived a fall without complications may make it seem likely that yours may have too, but it certainly doesn't guarantee it. If you have soreness that doesn't go away in a few days, or if you feel clicking or popping in that knee that wasn't there before, get your butt into the doctor (your knee will come along too).

Waiting to hear back from nurse.
