Is there a lot to see in the Arnold to angels camp, ca to justify staying 2 weeks.

I already have a trade confirmed for the mountain retreat in Arnold, CA. Today I see a week available at worldmark angels camp. I know they are only 30 minutes from each other. They back up to each other time ways. This is the end of August/September time frame. We are retired so it's not vacation time we are burning. I was wondering if there was enough things to do and see to justify staying 2weeks. Keeping it within 100 miles. I've never been to that area before, any suggestions of things to see and do?

This is "Gold Country" and if you are in any way a history buff or a wine lover there is lots to see and do. Each of the little towns has it's own Gold Rush history, shops and charms to keep one busy for an afternoon. Then there is wine. The area is particularly noted for Zinfandel and you could spend days touring the wineries if you're so inclined.

There are also beautiful alpine lakes for swimming, boating and fishing. In the summer, highway 4 opens between Arnold and Lake Tahoe and it is a beautiful drive through high alpine scenery to Lake Tahoe, which could be a day or overnight trip, depending on your timeframe.

There are natural hotsprings to visit around Markleeville, plus at that point you are close to the history of Carson City and Virginia City. There is a lot to see and do around the area, but you will be making day trips in your car. I think the Gold Country of the Eastern Sierras is an underappreciated area of California. I love poking around the forests of the area.

We also love this area, but we go there just to chill and do some hikings nearby. As suggested, you could use it as a base to explore Yosemite, Tahoe and San Francisco Bay Area, but that means you will be constantly in a car driving, something to think about...
