If I sell my TS, but still have a valid II deposit (from a previous year), can I make a trade after the deed has changed hands? I wouldn’t think that II would check ownership prior to every exchange, do you?

II doesn't know that you have sold your timeshare unless you have a corporate account that is provided as part of your ownership, or you tell them. If you have an independent II Acct, you can keep it as long as you keep paying the membership fee. You won't be able to deposit a timeshare of course, but you can still buy II rentals.

Yes, we sold our TS but had deposited a week before that. I'm keeping up my II membership so I can use it next year.
II still shows we own that TS.

Is this also the case with RCI, at least if you own weeks, not points?
Yes. I do still own weeks with RCI, but I have a few "weeks" in my account that I no longer own. RCI keeps trying to get me to deposit these weeks. I would have to call them to get them to delete the ownerships from my account - too much of a hassle for me, so they sit there...

Clarification:

If you have an independent II account that you pay for yourself, it will stay open as long as you keep paying the yearly memership fee.

If you have a corporate II account that is provided and paid for by your timeshare system, they will close it, if you sell the deed(s) affiliated with the account.

For instance, with Vistana timeshares, the mandatory deeds (with Staroptions) are registered with II in Corporate accounts. If you sell the mandatory deed, then Vistana will close the account, unless you have other deeds in the same II Acct.

I am a 15 year veteran in timeshare sales and marketing. Yes, just keep up with their yearly fees.

I am writing a "tell all" book about the whole timeshare industry to educate current and future timeshare owners. I can show how most anyone can get rid of their timeshare by the end of the day. The book is not a revenge for what timeshare resorts have been doing to people, but rather to prepare potential buyers for a presentation, and how to save the most money.

Don't buy anything until you read this book. My email is wcrobinson1973@gmail.com
