I was thinking of picking up a second gold plus or platinum week and found this ad on ebay. At first I thought it was a platinum week incorrectly advertised as gold plus because of the floating weeks. I then noticed that the deeded week doesn't fall in the floating week period and the unit number is not a platinum unit. Based on the deeded week (27) I think it's gold. I hope someone doesn't buy it thinking they are getting gold plus. What are your thoughts?

If there is such a unit 0414, deeded week 27, it is week 1-52. You can check true platinum unit numbers in the sticky. Since this is not deeded as one of the 3 seasons deed, it will make it a 1-52.

So it is a gold plus week, floating 1-52? So confusing, I wish they would advertise correctly.

    Yes, Gold Plus 1-52.

Here is copied from the sticky:
"To be a true Platinum week at Sheraton Desert Oasis theunit number must be in this range-

    1064, 1072, 1081-1100, 2064, 2072, 2081- 2100, 3064-3072, and 3081-3100

    AND

the deeded week must be in this range: 1-21, 50-52"

What advantage does a true platinum week give you over the gold plus floating week?

Theoretically, it is a stronger trader. The difference is real, but not significant if the goal is Interval trading using the Vistana preference.

There is a substantial benefit if the unit is requalified into the StarOptions program; a two bedroom platinum season (1-21 & 51-52) would get 148100 StarOptions rather than the 81000 SO's that a week 1-52 would have. However, this is expensive ($20K+) and of questionable value given the likely changes in the Vistana program due to the merger with Marriott.

Ok. I do not see myself spending $20000 and would use the unit to trade in II or to stay at the resort itself.
