I deposited my two bedroom Island park village and had a on going search for several different locations. This morning i got a confirmation for a 2018 summer week in a studio at Marriott Ko Olina.

Not sure if myself and three 20 year olds will be comfortable in a studio. I thought I had one bedroom in my search. Technically the studio holds 4 but not enough beds.

Its a good trade value wise but maybe I want to give it back and try to get a one bedroom in Waikiki. I have an ongoing search with RCI also. I hate giving up a two bedroom for a studio.

Should I keep it or toss it back

Toss it back. Too many people in too small of a place to enjoy your vacation. I'd hold out for a 2 bedroom. The one bedroom would likely only have 2 beds as well and you need more for 4 adults.

It is going to be real tight for 4 adults and a 1BR would likely be better. It would depend on you plans for meals and how much time you would spend in the room everyday. If you were going to eat out might be possible. I have a request also with 3-5 adults coming and am hoping for a 2 br but want at a least a 1-br so I can cook most days. Best of Luck hopefully more deposits will drop in early 2019 when fee are paid by owners.

You aren't going to get a 2 BR in the summer at that resort without using something with Marriott priority. What other resorts do you have requested? Do you have non Marriott, Westin, Hyatts requested? Right now we are about 7-8 months out. How close in would you be comfortable waiting to purchase airfare? I think your best possibilities are going to be a 1 BR Marriott or a non name 1-2 BR unit. I don't know how long it would take for one of those matches in the summer? You could take the studio and eplus retrade but that would require manual researches or you can cancel and hope. I don't know which would be better.

It also depends on the dates you have requested, my advice above is if you only have late June through early August requested. If you also have May, early June and late August your chances even at the premium resorts increase greatly.

Are you looking for Marriotts? If so, as you know owners can deposit without first paying. The Westings are controlled by the developer so they also have nothing to do with when MF are paid. If you have 5 adults you will need a 2 BR as very few 1 BR's allow more than 4.

I have the same search going for 2018 and 2019 in both II and RCI .In 2019 it will only be 2 adults in 2018 its 4. You cant search that way so i have to put 4 on everything. I am not only searching Marriott, Westin or just Hawaii I have variety of destinations in the search. I was not expecting KoOlina and I was pleased to see it until I saw that it was studio.

We always stayed in Waikiki. Maybe the college kids would get bored at KoOlina

I agree with the other posts. The studios at Ko Olina are just "hotel rooms". You will want more space just for your own sanity. You made the right move by waiting. Are you aiming for certain weeks, or all summer?

Yup I only have a request for 2 BR now but most likely I will only have 3 adults if a couple cannot go and will add 1 BR as an option at that point, have a broad net cast for Marriott and other properties in the request
