Hyatt Maui resale question and maintenance fee increase?

We are interested in purchasing a resale at Hyatt Maui residence club. I did some searching on this site, but still have a few questions.

1 - I was told thru a resale, it does not include the ability to utilize the GOLD PASSPORT transfer privileges (to trade into the world of Hyatt hotel program). What exactly does that mean? I understand II and not seeing Hyatt inventory. But I don’t understand the gold passport transfer option.

2 - someone posted their maintenance fees went up 7 percent from last year. Was this for everyone? That seems high.
Is that something to worry about - going up over 5% each year?

Thanks for your help!

Gold Passport program (now called World of Hyatt) allows you to convert your TS week to hotel points so that you can stay at any Hyatt hotel. Some HRC owners like/use this feature, however most view it as a poor use of your TS (ie: you trade 7 nights in a 2 bd/2 bath condo type unit for 4-8 nights in a hotel room - number of hotel nights depends on the category of the hotel).

MF varies by property. I'd say 7% increase is not normal.

We haven't noticed much difference in the last 3 yrs at Pinon Pointe or Beach House. With Maui you can always rent for much more than the MFs which is a good thing to look for when buying. We are considering an every other yr there as well. My favorite Hyatt!
