We will be in Las Vegas sometime in March and needing a room at the HGVC at Flamingo. Last I stayed here, I was told I can do the preview next time we come. I'm debating if I should just book a room or take advantage of the preview offer and maybe get there just one day earlier to have time for the presentation. But what I want to know is... do they pressure you and rude if you end up not getting one? We are Marriott owners and not once that I felt pressured into buying one during a presentation and the two times we've gone, the guy is super nice and just chill.... your thoughts? Or should I just rent from an owner for the days that I need and not bother with attending presentation in Vegas?

I don't believe Flamingo is in active sales. Most of the sales presentations in LV they shuttle you to the Boulevard location.

That is where the sales center is located.

This is totally your decision on what you want to do. Personally, I don't like the troubles for my vacation but if you are united with "no & no thank you" then you should be fine. I can not speak to this sales office but in general HGVC isn't high pressure either as long as you understand what you are in for.

If you go (I wouldn't), have printouts of resale listings for their Vegas resorts...
You can find 'em on www.judikoz.com, www.sellingtimeshares.net, Redweek and eBay.
Have a watering hole picked out for later to help you decompress.

I have done HGVC presentations in Vegas a few times. Most of my experiences have been pretty good. At least to me i would not call them high pressure. However they always seem to take a long time... As Buzglyd mentioned, the sales center is at LV Strip location, so they will bus you over and bring you back. Last time we had to leave pretty early, then long wait after the meeting for next bus. Plus the bus will probably have stops at some of the other HGVC resorts. I think it all depends on how much free time you have, and how much you value whatever reward they are offering for attending.

I found the Vegas presentation and Orlando presentations to have the highest pressure, least effective sales of the presentations we've attended. Took quite a few times for us to say "Thanks not interested" and finally standing up at the desk for about 15 minutes (which must have looked very awkward to other people attending presentations) to signal that we are done and want to leave.

(standing up is a technique I use at work to signal the end of a meeting - very polite yet effective.)

We've done these in Vegas a few times. Always low pressure. If you come armed with facts about how you vacation and now their program works, it can be over pretty quickly. I find these presentations to be as pressure-filled as we make them. We can make them go our way by just taking over the flow. At least that;s been my experience.

And a TUG t-shirt (which I'll be wearing for a Hyatt, Carmel Highlands presentation in December and Westin, Maui in May) won't hurt :)

Cheers.

Thanks.. Great to know it's low pressure and we know how to be firm with "NO". I did call the marketing dept and they said they have no offers or packages for Vegas at this moment. I didn't think it's seasonal but maybe I'll try again in a week or so.

There's also a sales center at Elara, in Vegas, as well as the North Strip location.

We went to one at Elara last year. They had lots of food and drink so it was nice for a quick lunch.

We really did want to see the rest of the resort (we were staying there). After the tour, which we enjoyed, the presentation was short once they found out we bought resale.

I have been to presentations in New York, Florida, and 2 locations in Las Vegas. I was treated with respect everywhere except on the "Boulevard" in Vegas where I was seriously lied to and felt bullied more than once. They appear to be respectful to guys so you may be okay.
If you do get shuttled to the Boulevard and decide to upgrade, read every piece of your contract. I upgraded and they tried to trick me. A woman should never go there by herself.
As to Elara, it is a good place for a presentation and I was shown all of the different kind of units without indicating whether I would upgrade.

Thanks everyone!

@jwayne - i'll keep that in mind. As of now, they have no offers at the moment anyway so i'm going to keep trying.
