We were at westin nanea and a loudspeaker alert said only to return to your villa as "There has been a disturbance'... it was quite odd... 38 minutes later, all clear was addressed over the loudspeaker...

Completely different at WKORN this morning. After first receiving an alarm text on both our cell our phones that this was not a drill
..we checked the local Hawaii TV station to make sure it was not a hoax.
They confirmed the message was real.
We got dressed, had our passports, money and credit cards out of the the safe and were ready to leave our Villa.
The alarm and loud speaker in our Villa came on shortly after that and told us not to leave our rooms, stay indoors ,and away from glass windows.
It was probably about 10 to 15 minute’s later the speaker’s came on again and said it was a mistake, and there were no incoming missiles.

Wow, I'm glad it was a mistake. I can't imagine the emotions that comes over you during that.

It would be nice to know in advance where the air raid shelters are or what the evacuation plan is. Should be posted on the back of the door just like the fire escape plan is.

As a child we had to do air raid drills in school. There are still designated air raid shelters around the small town I live near. We are still a target living 35 miles from the power plants in Niagara Falls.

There really are no shelters. You are pretty much on your own. Better to just stay put and hope you aren't at ground zero or downwind of it.

I was wondering about this. We will be visiting in April. I would think it would be on at least some peoples minds, for the foreseeable future. At least until tensions die down. I wonder if the resorts will add something to the back of the doors. Even if it is just to say "shelter in place away from windows." Definitely something we haven't had to think about in a long time.

We were surprisingly calm, once we were told not to leave our Villa, we made coffee and sat on our waterfront Lanai....Probably shock and total disbelief on our part that anything bad can happen to you on a beautiful sunny day in Maui.
We heard that while their was nothing in place for the guests the staff of Nanea were taken to a shelter in the basement of Honua Kai.

Yeah I think I would react the same way. There’s not much you can do, I would probably gather the family and just sit down and try to enjoy the time and share wonderful memories.

WHAT?
That is not what happened at WKORV , the resort announced over the emergency speakers about 4 minutes after the emergency text that "the emergency text was a mistake and there was no emergency". There was no announcement about what to do at all. How is it possible that the WKORVN and WKORV had such a different response?

That’s interesting.
Sounds like each of the three resorts responded differently.
