DW and I are making our first visit to Hyatt Ka'anapali Beach next month. Can't wait! We have a 1BR unit confirmed, but I know that some of the 1BR units have garden views and others have ocean views. Any advice on how I can maximize my chances of getting an ocean view unit? I've also read that one needs to get a higher floor in order to get the best view.

  • Should I contact the resort directly or go through Hyatt Residence Club owner services?
  • My date stamp for this reservation is June 9. I don't know if that does anything for me or not. The exchange request was made last December.
  • Any other strings I should try to pull to make my request more appealing, since I'm guessing they get these kinds of requests from everyone who exchanges in?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice!

First, I am so excited for you both. You will love it. When we got our ocean view we called the resort directly and actually went down in person the day prior to request it. Of course that only works if you are staying elsewhere on the island prior. Even when we had a 2nd floor 1 bedroom, ocean view we were thrilled with the view. The higher floors are better but all are good. The island views are also pretty but nothing beats the oceanfront. Enjoy!!

We had a 2 BR on the 6th floor. I can't imagine a better view. I like the building closet to the hotel better as it has a more direct view of the ocean.

The 1 BR ocean view condos have a clump of palm trees together very close to the ocean so try to find out how high these palm trees are at the moment at this resort. I believe that they have reached the 5th floor but don’t take my word for it. Ask the front desk or the Resort Manager.

If you are above or below that, you will be OK or if you look more to the right, you will see the ocean and beach too because there are fewer palm trees clumbed together.

What is nice is that you will hear the waves but you’ll have the pool in front of you too so may hear typical pool noise too during the day but the nights are very quiet and the waves will lull you to sleep. We never close our Lanai doors and it should be the same in December too.

The pool noise has never bothered us because we enjoy the kids having fun and we are always there during Easter or Spring Break when lots of children are on vacation.

If you take a tour, they may give you a better unit because you are a prospect. Good luck!

We have seen a model 1BR unit on the 8th floor looking out on the golf course and mostly green mountain with no buildings taking your wide open view away.

The floor plan is different and has more space in the dining room area but the Lanai is smaller because the bedroom has a large picture window. I posted the pictures a few years ago and they may be under the stickies?

The balcony has a narrow view of the ocean and also from the second small window in the bedroom.

Enjoy your stay in Maui, WalnutBaron.

Coming back to this thread again. I found the pictures of the 1 BR ocean and mountain view condos. They may be helpful to other TUG members too who like to visit there.

! BR ocean view condo on the 8th floor.

Here are the cluster of palm trees that I mentioned in my other post and will give you a good idea of what to expect.

You will see the Island of Lanai but not Molokai. It is completely blocked by the Marriott next door. The new Nanea and the two Westin Resorts have a direct view on both Islands.

1 BR mountain view condo also from the 8th floor.

Thank you. We are going the end of May and are hoping for ocean. Last year we had 2nd floor ocean view and there was a wide enough view between the palm trees that it was still spectacular. We love the lanai
