Thanks Sandy!

I just converted my 2019 Westgate via Global Choice. It was deposited in as 22 TP. It still has not hit my HICV account yet.
Well it took a while, but the 90,000 points are in my account. Thanks for your help!

22 TPU’s for $600 MF is not bad / not something you would search out to buy , but since it was an existing ownership and is now 90,000 HICV points you can use - a pretty good result .

******

This could make a useful “sticky” when the dedicated HICV forum rolls out .

Yeah, this was frosting on the cake when we converted our Silverleaf to HICV.

I had to pull out the 2019 guide and give her the page reference (pg 136) for Global Choice and read the instructions to the HICV VC. She insisted I was too late to use Global Choice as I had to deposit these 10 months ago. I insisted that I knew the rules and I was well within my right to use it.

Boy she came back after reading the page and confirming with the supervisor, and didn't even mention that she was wrong even after insisting for 3 minutes I could not do it and arguing with me back and forth. Oh well it is done, and perhaps a VC was educated today.

So now I have another 150,000 points rescued from RCI TPU jail.

I didn't get quoted and didn't get referenced so I missed this Q posted to me, but I am glad that @tschwa2 answered for me.

Do the TPU resorts have to be affiliated with HICV? I have two fixed weeks at unaffiliated resorts. Would they qualify for the Global Access. They are at fixed week resorts, independent of HICV. I have a points week at Orange Lake and I am in HIVC. The two other weeks trade thru RCI.
Just trying to clarify this? Thanks for any info.

They have to be NON-HICV and NON-RCI Points resorts in order to qualify. It does not matter that your week is a fixed week NOT in points, if the resort is RCI Points then it disallows that week. But otherwise they should qualify.

There are some very specific date requirements which must be met as well. See my earlier posts in this thread for specific details.

Hi Sandy.

I’ve been reading thru this post and wanted to resurrect it to ask a question. I recently joined HICV by buying the minimum amount of points and was able to keep my fixed SL weeks. They list in my contract that I still own the weeks and can stay at the resorts (3) for those weeks or use the points assigned to them elsewhere in HICV/ RCI/ IHG. Would this work for me? I have one of the deed weeks that I never use so that would be the ideal one for me to experiment with.

Ps. I suppose I first need to check my 2022 contract and see if the program is listed there.

Since HICV manages your SL weeks they would not be eligible for global choice. If you want that in points you have to pay HICV to convert. As mentioned above it can't be a HICV (managed) week or an rci points week. It's a way to use non HICV weeks that also exchange through rci weeks to use in the HICV system. It isn't a work around for converting HICV weeks that haven't been converted.

If your purchase converted your fixed weeks to points then you could use them as points with the HICV system but not through global choice.

I agree with @tschwa2 as SL is definately part of HICV, so not eligible.

Thank you! I wasn’t sure and took a chance since I can still use them as deed weeks. Great information though. Always nice to learn new advantages instead of only hearing the negatives.
