i got swept away by the offer of sitting through a 2 hour timeshare presentation with the allure of 3 night’s lodging at a HICV resort. Then I talked to my husband and he’s not into it and I agree. How do I get my $199 back? I tried calling customer service and writing a letter but they said, “all sales are final.”
I don’t want to spend more money on airfare, etc. when it’s not for us.

I don't think there is any chance to get your money back. If you used a Credit or Debit Card, you might try disputing the charge but in all candor I don't think you will have any success...

I think that you are simply out the $199. OTOH, the mini vacation wouldn't be THAT bad as long as you are firm about not buying anything. They are nice resorts in good locations. And the salesweasels are generally a fairly friendly bunch. Pushy and they lie like rugs, but reasonably friendly. Tell them NO repeatedly and after the required 2 hours stand up and walk out.

I agree, we are going to a HICV resort for a two day get away. We used our points. So no mandatory presentation involved.
We plan to tell them that we only have two days there and not going to give up any of our time for a sales pitch, we already own and happy with what we have.
I suggest you go and enjoy your trip, listen to the pitch say no and look for resales on TUG. Take your time, it is tempting to buy when you are at the resort, but keep TUG in the back of your mind.
Safe travels!

Plus, if you paid $200 (or whatever) for a few days at HICV resort, you are REQUIRED to go on a sales presentation. That is a condition for the low rate. Since you are "on the hook", go and enjoy the weekend, and put up with a 60-90 minute presentation.

If you have to pay airfares in addition to the $199 you’ve already lost, I’d say don’t bother, be a no show. You could call the hotel and say you’re not coming. I usually block these calls.
