Seems like it would. I really don't understand why Hawaiian Airlines has a dog in that hunt, though.

Maybe there are property investors on board...?

"Could this help Timeshare rentals in Hawaii?" I don't know. It depends on how the owner markets the unit. If a timeshare unit is rented out of a local office it may benefit from airbnb, vrbo(now Expedia), booking.com being curtailed. From what I've seen many owners rely on airbnb-type marketing of their T/S rental. Seems like it would boost (person to person) T/S rentals posted here on TUG. At any rate thank you for posting the link!! I'm happy to have been made aware of it. Mahalo!

If Hawaii actually was successful in taking short term vacation rentals in residential areas out of the rental pool, I wonder how many total units would come off the market. Probably no way of knowing that.

Hawaiian are hoping for more short-term vacation rentals to keep passenger traffic to/from Hawaii high and consistent throughout the year.
