Hard to believe that the resorts do as well as they do with occupancy rates that high.

I agree. I gave up on exchanges. I can never get what I want, and if I do, I only find out about a month before check-in. I like to book my vacation time at least a year or more out.
I’m glad I own 3 weeks at the resort I want to always go to from now on. Now, I just need to get rid of a fixed week at a non Hawaii resort that has great trading power, but I never use it. (Rentals are only handled by the resort, after a admin fee and paperwork + % of rental income.)

Interesting information. I wonder of the 22.9% that stayed in timeshares as well as other type of lodging how many days did they stay in a hotel, vacation rental, friends and relatives etc. I know we stay for many nights in timeshares, but in order to work around high airline costs and fill gaps between timeshares we have stayed for a day or 2 in Hotels. Once to attend the Merrie Monarch we stayed in a vacation rental in Hokolau on Hawaii Island.
