Indeed. In particular (and IMHO), Bora Bora is the most beautiful place on Earth. I made the mistake of visiting Moorea after Bora Bora...and while it was amazing I just couldn't shake the feeling that I was no longer in paradise.

I absolutely loved staying in the overwater bungalows at Le Tahaa. We stayed there after the overwater bungalows at Le Meridian on Bora Bora and it still felt like paradise. So we are going back there again before our sailing trip that leaves from Raiatea. Later in the year, we go to Maui for 2 weeks.
I'm ready for a detailed trip report now, if not a pre-planning/booking report. ;-) Just picking from the three June offerings was probably hard. I could even see Hawaii as a layover instead of LAX.

The problem with using Hawaii as a layover to Tahiti is the only direct flights from HNL - PPT are Hawaiian Airlines flights that only operate on Saturdays. That makes it harder to coordinate schedules and pre/post cruise stays when doing a Paul Gauguin cruise. Search on Expedia or Orbitz for HNL - PPT for any day but Saturday and you get routed through LAX or Auckland. Not good. Air Tahiti Nui flies nonstop daily from LAX - PPT. By next summer most of their flights will be using new 787 Dreamliners. We paid a little extra to upgrade to the Premium Economy with 2-3-2 seating instead of the 3-3-3 seating in regular coach. That way we can get a window and an aisle on the side.
If we like French Polynesia as much as everyone else seems to, I could see us opting to take a week from an occasional future multi-week Hawaii trip and going to Bora Bora for a week or so in lieu of second or third Hawaiian island.
