Hello all, we have a trip coming up where we traded into GM in NV the first week of February. What are the chances we can get an ocean view room if we make that a stipulation for attending the sales presentation? And what kind of incentives are they typically offering for attending the sales presentations?

Their standard incentive is 10% off room charges and a discount card that will get you various benefits at restaurants, bars, and spa treatments. You might be able to get a room upgrade (e.g., ocean view or higher tier room) depending on availability. I’ve had 50% off the resort fee on some stays as well.

Be warned that Vidanta has quite the reputation for sales; it will likely take up most of your day.

Enjoy your trip! The resort is quite nice, though they’ve made it a bit tough to get out in town.

February is generally the month with the highest occupancy. Generally owners using their weeks get the ocean view rooms. Owners who are exchanging in are often assigned to non-oceanfront rooms. You never know. As Eric said the discount is not that great. It may be better for non-owner exchangers, but 10% off and a free massage are not enough incentive for us to spend the better part of a day being harassed.

We have been Mayan World owners for 20 years next month and the last 3 times we went to a resort, it was using an exchange and we were not assigned ocean-front rooms. In November 2017, we were given an awful room on the first floor beside the A/C system exhaust fans. We did get moved after a couple of days complaining about the noise as we had guests arriving on Wednesday. (The resort was not even 1/2 full.) We did not mind not being on the ocean side, but the noise was unacceptable. The unit was nice, but we could not go outside on the deck.

IMHO room selection is the luck of the draw, The best view we had was an exchange in Feb. 2017 into the MP in NV. 6th. floor MP ocean view. the end unit next to the GB Because of the shape of the building the bedroom was huge, both it and the living room had double sliding doors to the balcony. Only complain we had was the balcony is not big enough to have chairs on it. so we just moved easy chairs up to the doors and used them.
