$1,000 transfer fee? Marriott doesn't charge that much, so it's really not free.

Suppose one could tell the seller that they'll pay the "transfer fee" directly to Marriott.

Could be the seller is trying to get around ROFR by giving the week away and charging a bogus transfer fee or, maybe the transfer fee includes the closing costs.
