Yes, it's no longer part of the Marriott family (it's now managed by VRI). Yes, it's had 3 years (as have all the buildlings at Streamside) of a 3-year assessment for the renovated pool and clubhouse (assessment is done this coming year/2010--after which @$250 of the $850 2010 m.f. bill should disappear).
But if you're looking for an affordable way to spend a pleasant week in the summer mountains of Vail, and are not expecting a Marriott or Hilton-type resort, it's a nice spot/option. Fixed week 26 includes the July 4th holiday periodically, which is a nice plus. Trades decent (even after non-Marriott affiliation). Traded for Christmas week to Marriott's Custom House in 2008 (flexchange) and for a 2 bedroom Marriott Manor Club next April for spring break.
We have too many timeshares (6 at last count?!) and need to downsize. Buyer just pays closing (company of your choosing) and transfer costs ($75 I think? Heck, on second thought I'll even spring for the transfer fee).
2010 week is available (not yet space-banked) and potentially negotiable as part of transfer.
