Former First Lady Barbara Bush has passed away

Yesterday it was announced that she would no longer seek treatment for her COPD and would just have comfort measures at home. She passed away today! May she RIP.

It has been said her husband and son may have run the country but she ran the family.

Her choice to decline further treatment of COPD was just one example to me of the type of great person she was.

Yes, I know there is alot more to her than staying married for seventy three years but that really impresses me. I wonder how George is doing.

First Lady Barbara Bush set an example of true love to her man and her family. Her man was first and her family was second. Seventy three years ofmarriage to the same man...That was an achievement.

Not so much physically as mentally. It seems like, very often when a wife passes, after being together for so long, the husband wants to follow. It wouldn't surprise me if George will be chasing Barb very soon.

That is exactly what happened to my Dad. After Mom died, I visited Dad a week or so later. He told me he had seen Mom and she said it was ok to come now. Two days later he passed away. The staff at the nursing home said this was pretty common.

My Dad and Stepmother were married more than 40 years. After Dad retired, they were together all day, every day, for at least 30 of those years. After she passed, Dad was just "done." He passed eleven months later. He was ready.

Seems that way if the wife passes first. My mother passed away almost 10 years after my Dad. If it was the other way around, he would not have survived for long.
Miss them both, we used to go on timeshare vacations together!
