Just got this email..... Is this a scam?

New York Consumer Center, a national research firm, is conducting research on behalf of Hilton Grand Vacations. We're seeking current owners to participate in this in-person research on Friday, November 9th. If you qualify and participate in this 2-hour focus group discussion, you will earn a $175 prepaid visa card for your time and opinions.
This is in no way an attempt to sell you anything, now or in the future. It is an information gathering process only, and your responses will remain confidential.
If you are interested in being part of this research group, we first need to ask a few questions to determine your eligibility. Please note that spaces are limited, and interested applicants will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please click the link below to take a short online survey. We will then contact you to obtain some further information and confirm your invitation to participate.

Sounds legit. The qualifying questionnaire should not ask for any banking or ss info (which may tip you off that it is scam). You can call HGVC to confirm.

If you go, please report back on the experience and what they were interested in.

Market research firms usually conduct preliminary screening like this before they conduct the actual focus group because they are seeking particular types of customers to query. You didn't fit whatever they were screening for.

So they got their marketing data from you without having to pay a cent! Pretty slick on their part...

Well, except for other owned TS and income, HGVC would already have had the other data. Not a lot of value in that for them, nor a lot of time to fill out :)

    Cheers,

How do we know it was really from HGVC? Just because they said so in the email? It could have been legit, but I am extremely skeptical of any unsolicited email, phone call, etc.

Now that's a good point. If I got that email, I'd call HGVC first to vet the email.

    Cheers.
