If i own a timeshare in platinum season and with a Travel index of 150. Does that mean I can almost guarantee myself an exhchange with any Marriott resort in the world especially if I have a 3 bed and maybe looking to exchange into a 2 bed. Also if I was to exchange with II would the same logic apply?

Just after some advice on how well the system works or if it's just pot luck a lot of the time.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. To trade your week you MUST use II. There is no "internal" exchange option with Marriott. (Some people call converting your week to DC points and booking with points, if you can, to be an internal "exchange", but its not.)

Trading is never as simple as the OP implied. Trading in II is always a crap shoot. Because just because you are giving II a great week does not mean they they have the week you want since someone else has to give them that week.
BUT trading into a 2 bd is always easier that trading for a 3 bd since many more people trade 2 bd over 3 bd. Also many people with 3 bd will lock off one bedroom then trade the 2 bd and studio separately.

I've found that sometimes I get trades were I've gotten a resort / week that is much better than the one I've traded and sometimes not as good. As I said "Crap Shoot"

I agree, there are a lot of variables including the specifics on both ends, how early one deposits and how early one requests. As a rule you need to deposit at least 10 months out and request at least 12-13 months out. One thing on Travel Index, it's very misleading. It's not standardized across the regions. 150 in the Mid South is NOT the same as 150 in HI or Aruba. Even then there are variables beyond the TDI listings. If you'll give the specifics of your situation on both ends, we can likely give you a better feel for the chance of success.
