"In fall of 2017, the island of St. Thomas experienced catastrophic damage as a result of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and we are continuing to work with our contractors to determine when we can reopen our resort. Additionally, we are closely monitoring the timeline for the restoration of infrastructure on the island to ensure tourism can be supported. At this time, we can confirm the resort will not reopen in 2019, and we are not accepting new reservations until the final reopening date has been determined. Once a more thorough renovation timeline is complete, we will reassess when the resort will reopen and reservations will be available for booking."

There's another St. Thomas resort close to Elysian Beach that is also closed. The Margarita place is open.

If they are looking at being closed for over two years, you can't help wonder if "when the resort will reopen" isn't really, "IF the resort will reopen."

That is weird. Earlier today on the Elysian property, and now it is ALSO listed on the Bluebeard's Beach Club property too. So both now say closed for all of 2019.

We were booked for Blackbeard’s in May 2018 and it was cancelled. We rented a VBRO on the other side of the island. Many places were up and running, many places under construction and some didn’t look like anything was happening at all. St Johns also had lots of damage. Many of the trees in the national park were topped off to about 15ft high. BVI was even worse. After a week on St Thomas, we had a week on a catamaran out of Tortola. Boats still stacked on top of each other and some sunk. Things are starting to get going everywhere, though. You had to overlook a lot of debris and construction, but the weather was beautiful and we don’t regret going at that time.

Insurance isn't going to cover everything. I wonder what the special assessment fees will be per 1000 points.

I saw brief mention of it on the WorldMark site saying there would be a late 2020 opening. There was also the statement that "the Elysian Beach Resort on St. Thomas will reopen in November" in an article in the Caribbean Journal in May of this year.

Haven't seen anything official from Wyndham on this, though.

What is insurance not going to cover? Do you have anything saying that says there are costs that won't be covered by the insurance?

Im sure it will be less the the cost of your daily cup of coffe. Question is what are you paying now for that cup of Joe? 0.59 or are you buying the $4.50 latte?
