I’m looking at a property on eBay. The seller is “thetransfergroup”. They only have a feedback number of 21, so perhaps this is a new name for an old seller.

I did a search here on the BBS for “thetransfergroup” and nothing came up. Do any of you have any information on this seller?

    Thanks,

    Becky

I bought from them on eBay. Everything went smooth and in a timely manner. The previous owner used some of the points. They verified the points were used and gave me a refund within 24 hours.

I would recommend The Transfer Group and would buy from them again. They did our closing also so you only deal with one company.

That is actually against the law and why almost all timeshare mass sellers use an "in-house" related entity. Are you sure you were dealing with the same "legal" entity?

Most of the legitimate brokers are very careful to use a closing company that is fairly distant. The step down but necessary mass sellers pass off the closings to an entity controlled by the same ownership.

Any transaction where the broker or sales agent is not the legal seller but is performing the closing would not be a legal timeshare "real estate" transaction. Some states it might be ok but not in most.

Maybe not same legal entity. LT Transfer used to do their closings. They hired someone to do their closings in house.

They are in Missouri. I'm not sure on Missouri law. When I called the closing agent answered the phone a couple of times.

They may have 2 entities technically. But one wouldn't know when dealing with them.

Seller and closing company being the same people may be "convenient", but (even if / where legal) is not sufficiently protective of buyer interests. Where is the arm's length, third party objectivity in any such "arrangement" to verify any and all pertinent interval details (not to mention current owner account status and independent confirmation of next available use) before actual closing?

To each their own of course, but I'm personally just not at all a believer in "foxes handling hen house management details". YMMV.

Missouri law generally does not apply, or at least not by itself. These transactions get complicated because it is not uncommon to have up to four state laws applicable. Buyer state, seller state, property state, and listing agent / closing company state.

Some people complained about the closings taking longer once Sumday set up a legally and operationally independent closing company but they did it to comply with all the various state requirements.

I agree with Theo and Saintsanfl. I have purchased from atleast four different companies on eBay and all seem to have a cozy relationship with the closer. Might be different entity doing the closing but almost all have the same address and phone number or are next door to each other.

None of us may like it. But that's reality when buying on eBay.

Several times you will have the seller doing their own closing also

Sumday was brought up and they even want you to sign a POA for them to supposedly speed up the closing.
I personally don't like that at all

I think you might be mistaken. Sumday has the seller sign a POA but not the buyer. The buyer has to sign all their own docs. The seller has to do a POA because they traded in their timeshare with another company and Sumday was hired to find a buyer. It is inefficient for Sumday to deal with the seller directly so the POA is needed or deals would stall for months or fall through.

Sumday will offer to have the buyer sign a POA if something is wrong with the deed that needs to be corrected but this is completely optional and up to the buyer on whether they want Sumday to handle the correction on their behalf or they can sign all the corrective docs themselves.

I recently had a deal through Discount Timeshares/Timeshare Broker Services/Timeshare Closing Services where they found a buyer for my timeshare. After seven months I find out the seller still had not sent in the paperwork and paid in full. I am done dealing with 3rd party brokers that have little control over the process.

I'm not going to get in a pissing match here.

Sumday does request the buyer sign a POA. It's in every eBay ad of there's that I have seen. There was a thread about that in the WYNDHAM section I believe.

If one refuses they sometimes will proceed forward without the POA from buyer. But it's requested from EVERY BUYER

The POA you are referring to in the eBay terms is a limited POA for correcting a scrivener error. That's very different from a POA to act on the buyers behalf. It says they may request it but they certainly do not usually request it. It may depend on the system being purchased.

I have bought over 20 units from Sumday in the last year. Not one limited POA was requested.

Someone mentioned recently about signing a POA with Sumday in another thread. They posted later that they made a mistake. I'm not saying they will never ask for it but it will always be the scrivener type which does not grant them authority to act on your behalf.

Here is the post from someone that mistakenly said they signed a limited POA as the buyer.

The only time Sumday would maybe want a limited POA from the buyer is when the buyer has to sign the deed. That is rare but happens in places like New Orleans. For most deed corrections it's only the seller's sig on the deed and since Sumday already has that POA they can make the correction without approval.

I have voluntarily given a POA to Sumday on two occasions so that I did not have to mess with the paperwork. One was a limited POA for a correction in New Orleans where the wrong unit number was on the deed. The other was a normal POA to get a unit transferred out of my name from Diamond. The original seller had lied and misrepresented ownership and fees owed. It missed the estoppel because the resort was in limbo between management companies.

I bought a timeshare from thetransfergroup on April 2, paid for it immediately, and as best I can tell nothing has happened since then. I've totally completed several other deals that originated after this one. Unfortunately, too much time has passed for me to give them negative feedback. They requested my info a couple times, not realizing I had already given it to them and they haven't replied to my emails for the past couple works. I don't know if these people are scammers or are having problems but I'd advise anyone considering their auctions to think twice. EBay definitely needs to extend the feedback period, at least for timeshares.

I made a purchase through The Transfer Group on eBay and had no problems at all. It is now with Wyndham waiting for them to make the ownership transfer.

From my experience, the best way to reach her is by email. Be sure to provide her with the seller name (if you have it), your name, and the property information. That way, she can find it.

I am currently also dealing with them and have had an awful experience. Took 6 weeks to get an answer on rofr at a 30 day rofr resort and now I have heard nothing since last Tuesday when I was told it was bought back.

My Ebay auction with them ended on April 2, paid for it immediately, and have heard nothing from them. Looks to me like they are thieves. Has anyone gotten their timeshares transferred? They have 50 items for sale on Ebay. I'm sorry I didn't leave them negative feedback before 60 days went by.

I purchased from them in August 2016. It was a slow process, but it was due to the original deed holder/seller's end. Robin Martin from the Transfer Group was excellent to deal with. It was for a Bluegreen deed and once the paper work was handled by the Transfer Group, they sent it to Sterling Title for closing. I would recommend them based on my experience.

Update on my transaction. I bought a timeshare from thetransfergroup in an Ebay auction that ended on April 2 and paid for it immediately. It's taken a long time but it got transferred to me on Aug 10 and I received everything I was supposed to receive. Since this was an biennial odd year usage, the delay did not negatively impact me. Ashley was very helpful in getting it done.

    sorry long Vent

Since I purchase a unit with them, Ashley has been fired for issues with the company(09/23/17). I had called her prior to her being fired to cancel my purchase .
I was told to contact Donna on that following Monday. I called Donna told her what happen and the purchase at that point was canceled again.
Received a email from Donna stating a refund to my cc is being refunded.
So I waited and with in a couple of days the refund on my cc showed.
So thinking everything was done and over with. I was looking to purchase from someone else. And I did. As I was checking to see if my new unit was recorded , Guess what show up. Yep the one that I cancelled the previous month from The Transfer Group(Donna).
So now I am trying to get this fix with Donna to have it removed.
I let you know if and when I get this fix. So stressed.

Update: The Trasnfer Group is sending me a quick claim deed to sign and return . I have asked to had the paper work send overnight. Will let you know if I rec it.

    Update:
Yesterday I received the Quit Claim paperwork to get this TS out of my name.
    What a mess.
Always check all documents, recording of deeds. Follow up with emails.
Contact the transfer company as many times as necessary to make sure all the t's are crossed, and all the i's are dotted.
