My new pet peeve with Interval is when the reps ask me if I want to add Eplus to any of my pending requests. (This is usually during a call when they’ve called to ask me about alternative matches, and like a fool I keep answering these calls because hey maybe I’ve overlooked a certain resort or timeframe).

I know the calls themselves are most likely a pretext to pressure us to take alternate weeks but I’m really tired about the extra questions. Do I want Eplus added to my search request? I’ve tried for some time to patiently explain to the reps that it depends on the confirmation. (Hopefully they would all ge together after their shift and say hey she makes a lot of sense, let’s stop asking this question. HAH!)

If I get confirmed to the Highlands Inn which is a drive-to destination there’s no way I’m not going on that trip. I’ll make it for some part of that week if worse comes to worse. Or if I’m on my deathbed and can’t go I’ll give it to my brother to use.

If I get confirmed to a ski week in Lake Tahoe though, I’ll add Eplus because you can never count on Tahoe for snow.

If I get confirmed to a studio unit in Hawaii, I’ll add Eplus so that I can retrade to a larger unit.

But just curious, do any of the TUGGers add Eplus automatically to their searches before even being confirmed? And if so, what are the advantages.

I used to eplus everything up front when I put my request in. I looked at it as a low cost insurance policy if I couldn’t use it last minute but used it more to flip into something much better the week or two before. Now I wait, if I get a trade that I am extremely happy with I no longer take eplus.

The advantage of doing it prior to being confirmed is you can’t forget.

I don't add before. I used to always add after but now I am selective. If there is high chance that we keep the reservation as is, we do not add ePlus.

I don't do OGS, but if I did I would add it. I automatically add it to all of my exchanges. Since Eplus, I may have not retraded only once. Most of the time, I retrade more than one time. I've gone through 2 of them completely and called II to get a replacement week.

I buy E-plus in advance for my ongoing searches only when I am sure I would want to keep E-plus for each and every resort I am searching for after it has been confirmed. This is because I was told by an II rep that I would be unable to drop the prepaid E-Plus from a confirmation during the first 24 hour period after one of the resorts I am doing the ongoing search for is confirmed, unless I would want to cancel the entire confirmation. Therefore, if I am not sure that I would want E-plus for every resort I am searching for, then I wait until after the confirmation that results from the ongoing search to make sure I want to add it to the specific resort that was confirmed within 5 days of the confirmation. I hope that makes sense.

Dont take it personal. Its part of the QA requirements for the rep. In fact the system automatically has the box checked for e-plus and the rep has to ask if you "want to add" because if you say yes, they leave the box checked, but if you say no, they have to uncheck the box. Advantage of adding eplus is you dont have to worry about calling back within the 5 days of the confirmation. The $59 for eplus to make up to 3 changes to your week (up to 24 hours prior from check in) is better than paying the $199 exchange fee you would have to pay without eplus. If its not something you want at the time, just tell them no thanks and they will continue with the call.
