Has anyone on the forum dealt with this organisation to donate a timeshare to a charity?

A few points:

-This is a for-profit company that makes a small charitable donation to meet the minimum qualifications to be classified as a "charity." The vast majority of funds "donated" to them - goes to them.

-When you donate a timeshare worth 0 dollars, your tax write-off is 0 dollars. This company may promise you a big write-off, but if you get audited, it may get you in trouble with the IRS.

-You can accomplish the same thing for FREE or nearly FREE, be giving it away yourself to someone who would like to adopt your timeshare:

How can I give my timeshare away on TUG:

This really works - in the last 6 mos. I have given away 2 timeshares on TUG, and adopted one.

*I see that you already posted an Ad on the forum linked above - to keep it on the main page, you want to come back once a week, and add more helpful info.

I've purchased from them. Your "donation" won't really result in much of any tax write off, if that's what you're looking to find out.

Thanks Denise
So, would you say the company RedemptionandReleas.com falls in about the same bracket?

Other than that I am not too concerned about the tax write-off...if it's there then good but I am more keen on getting rid of a time-share which I don't use but carry the maintenance ...

Also, I am certainly following your advice on TUG on the FREE or low-cost routes as you mentioned ...and thanks for the advice to update weekly.

There are no reputable upfront fee companies…. Once they have your money, why should they care if the sell your timeshare?

Maps lied to me. It's between Phoenix and Lake Pleasant.

From what I have read from others this is a reputable company and will do what they say they will.

It won't be cheap and I believe in the free or close to free options.

The owner is a member of Tug. I trust the company, but as others have said, first try to give it away on your own. Even if you pay someone $100. to take it, it's less expensive. If you are in a hurry and need to get rid of it and can afford a few thousand, they may be able to help you. They won't take all timeshares, just the ones that they know they can resell.

Hi am the VP of Donate for a Cause. As many have said on TUG, try to give it away yourself. However, if you do not want to go through the labor of doing so we have programs to do it for you.

Our fee depends on what you actually own. If it has enough resale value to cover all of the closing costs and transfer fees then we do not charge anything. However, if the resale value is low then we require the owner pay the fees to get rid of it.

Thanks,
John Kushman

I can vouch for John and his company as I bought a timeshare off eBay and went through without a hitch.

Please be aware that the OP wishes to make a timeshare "donation," to them.

This is what's so mixed up about Timeshare World.

As one who loves to pick up $0 timeshares from them and others like them I need people to pay the couple thousand to have them offer up their timeshares.

On the other hand I always advise people to try to get rid of TSs themselves. Same advice Mr. Kushman gave in his post here.

If people are too overwhelmed or can't do the work themselves, these resellers provide a valuable service and that's the only way we can keep picking up the gems we like.

Thanks Pat, with the mention of Bargain Board, is that the same as the Bargain Deals section in TUG?

TUG sale options

There are two areas for cheap/free timeshares. One is in the TUG forums, and one is it the TUG Marketplace.

Both are discussed here:

How can I give my timeshare away on TUG:

http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132509

That's what I understood thanks...I listed on both, would you mind checking if I did it the right way perhaps? That would be kind!
