One last question regarding getting out of DRI.... A few people have said maybe I can default on paying. I've never done such a thing, I have great credit & realize it would surely effect it. Anyone out there have experience on defaulting on this? I'm currently set up where payments come right out of my bank account so I don't even know if it's possible. I appreciate all the responses so far!

Defaulting on any loan obligation is certainly likely to have negative credit report consequences. Nonetheless, it is your choice and prerogative to default on that (or any other) loan obligation if you so choose, accepting the consequences.

As far as your bank goes, you can always just close the account to which DRI has payment access and open a new account with a different account number (or alternatively, open a brand new account at an entirely different bank). In either case, it's not all that difficult to make your funds completely inaccessible to DRI, if that is your decision and intent. None of those gyrations impact the validity of your underlying contract in any way; you would merely be eliminating "automatic payment" access.

Have you read through those numerous DRI-related posts on RedWeek to which you were previously directed? The Facebook group mentioned there which is specific to unhappy DRI owners might provide you with some useful insights and, at a minimum, support and guidance from others in a similar predicament. They seem to claim some successes in battling DRI, but I have no knowledge whatsoever regarding details.
