Yesterday, I finally found a place close to home to get a Haircut. It’s only a couple blocks from home and a nice lady who was born and raised on Kaua’i did a great job. I really needed one, especially with this warm weather we’ve been having.

I finally took some time and snapped some pictures of my daily commute home. I have to stop a hundred times for lights anyway. City people are used to this but there were only two lights for my 10 mile commute in Wisconsin. :)

It’s about 5 miles coming home and usually takes me about 35 to 40 minutes. It only takes 20 minutes going into work.

The drive home goes through Chinatown and even past the Kamehameha Statue, 5-0 headquarters. :)

I stopped going to those supercut places years ago. Lots of small shops for men’s haircuts on Oahu. They tend to be less expensive and do a better job. Haircut and tip combined equals the other places.

That’s exactly what I found!

I go totally bald these days. Save so much money! It's a popular style!
Back in the day it was only Telly Savalas, or Yule Brenner that be would sport the cue ball. Now do many celebs and others go bald. Been trendy for quite some time now.

As long as I have a mostly full head of hair, I’ll keep getting it cut. :D

We took a ride to Zippy’s after grocery shopping today. First time my wife has been to one. She had the oxtail soup. She loves oxtail soup and orders it whenever we’re at a place that serves it. 5 big meaty pieces of oxtail, she was happy. I had the fried chicken place and some chili. All were excellent.

About 2 years ago I went from a between the shoulder blades pony tail to shaved head. After about 10 months Patti said she had decided she did not like the shaved head look. So I am into 15 months of the pony tail growing back. Though there is so little hair left on top I still shave it. Unfortunately my hair grows back a lot slower in my 60's than my 30's.

Patti always liked me with a beard but in my lip area the hairs were so hard and sharp it was like kissing a scrubbing brush. So I have grown my beard back but shave the upper and lower lip area. Someone commented I looked Amish.

The price on oxtail in meat dept’s is really high. So not really worth making it yourself.

The other Oahu favorites are eating at a “Pho” place. Or getting a Korean plate lunch.

If you like cooking fresh fish, look for the Ahi or Aku bone. If the Ahi bone comes off a large fish, it is tasty and relatively cheap.

Also, try making some seared Ahi poke, when the prices are cheap on Ahi at the market.

We stay in Honolulu about 4 months every year and I don't recall ever seeing the price of gasoline. I thought it was about $10/gallon since people always complain about prices being so high in Hawaii. Perhaps we don't know the price of gasoline is that is because we don't have a car!
