Considering a TS rental in Aruba

Hello everyone, glad I found this site as the info is invaluable! So my wife and I just returned from Aruba a week ago, staying at the Marriott Stellaris and absolutely loved it so we started planning to go back in Jan. but rates are literally doubled! So I somehow found myself looking at both their Ocean and Surf club but wasn't that familiar with the TS market, so started researching which led me both to Redweek and then via their forums pointed here. I found a Redweek certified listing but I guess my question is, what exactly is normally included in a TS rental in a hotel chain? I mean, is it on a chain by chain basis? My one concern is housekeeping, is it included or do we simply clean up after ourselves? Ironically when we stayed at the Stellaris being Marriott Rewards members, we were given the option of 5000 pts/nt. if we didn't use housekeeping so that isn't an issue of being neat. I just didn't want any surprise post-vacation "fees" from the TS owner based on not picking up towels/sheets, etc and not properly disposing of them.
Per the listing:
"...**Please note that rentals may be subject to additional fees, including a government fee of $3/night, a $15 levy fee, and "timeshare taxes" that vary by unit size (Studio: $9.50/night)"

Oh, and it's listed as a 0 bed/1 ba but states:
  • Sleeps 4
  • Beds1 Queen, 1 Sleeper Sofa
So are they saying that the sleeper sofa is the queen, and if so where do the other 2 sleep?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Mike

I would respectfully suggest submitting your fees questions directly to the RedWeek advertiser of the listing, since the answers will differ from one place to another and you haven't specifically identified the particular property of interest to you.

As far as the bed issue, it may just be a minor typo error in the ad details. It seems reasonable and safe to assume (from what you've cited) that there is a Queen size bed and a sleeper sofa, each potentially / theoretically accommodating 2 people, for a total of 4. Assumptions are dangerous, however --- I'd seek clarification on whether "0 bedrooms" is a typo, or perhaps an indication of a studio unit with a pull down Murphy Bed and a sleeper sofa within a single undivided space (no thank you).

Housekeeping varies between timeshares, but usually NO daily housekeeping is included, and there may be ONE "tidy" service mid-week on a weekly stay. You may upgrade the tidy service to a full cleaning for an additional fee, or pay more for additional housekeeping.

You definitely need to contact the owner through the link on Redweek.
