Here's a question where I'm not sure of the answer:
"Can an owner confirm their HRPP week using points from a different week?"

It seems like a logical approach, but my guess is the system is automated and doesn't provide an option for a non-standard booking. Has anyone had this experience?

I'm guessing the answer is no, since the HRC system is set to either simply confirm one's HRPP week or make a separate request for a different stay at either one's home resort or a different resort. I'm also struggling to understand why an owner would even want to do what you're suggesting, Kal. It's obviously a lot easier to just confirm the HRPP week than to do so otherwise. Maybe I'm missing something?

The only reason I can think of is to use older CUP points that are about to go to LCUP.

I agree with you that the logical answer is no.

You could call and say you want to release your HRPP week and then immediately reserve it using older points. Of course you would have to pay a reservation fee. That might be the way to do it. It's a small price to pay to manage your points. Someone could have a wait list for the time that could mess things up.

You're right. I suppose you could call HRC and ask if they can check to see if there are any waitlisted requests for your HRPP week, but I'm not sure if they can see those or not. And once you relinquish that week, a waitlist request will immediately be fulfilled much more quickly than your ability to secure the same week with older CUP points that might be ready to go LCUP. All in all, it sounds like an ill-advised strategy unless you know that you can pull it off with HRC's help.

I think the Go Hyatt folks see it all on their computer screen - what they'll tell vs what they won't is question. They will usually tell you how many people have confirmed their HRPP week for a given property/week. But I don't believe they will tell you anything about the wait list.

In relation to the original question of can you confirm your HRPP week with older points - no. By definition, HRPP is your week, your unit - you confirm it or you don't. HRPP is only for the confirmation of your deeded week. If you don't confirm your deeded week/unit, your HRPP ownership is converted to CUP points.
