After over a decade of renting cars upwards of 45 days per year we finally had one damaged that required we file a claim. In this case we had used our Chase United Explorer card which provides primary CDW coverage and car rentals. Hoenestly, I was expecting a fight. The reality was everything has gone smoothly.
What happened to use was a bird strike on the side of the car. A large bird (hawk maybe) hit and knocked off a strip plastic of body side molding. We filled out the claim form with Budget, notified the credit card CDW claims deptartment and notified our insurance company, just in case. Budget notified us the damaged was around $70. We submitted all the requested information and in short order I received an email the credit card CDW had paid the claim.
Needless to say at this point I'm very pleased. Granted the card has a yearly fee of $99 but it's well worth it, just for the rental car CDW, if this is how claims are handled.
