I see availability from July 12 to July 15 ( 3 nights) , but can only book 2 nights because of the open season window. Will I be able to add a day tomorrow if the room is available?

I don’t know. I would book the two and try to change it online tomorrow to add the third. If you can’t, I would call in and ask the agent, they are very helpful, I have found.

Best,

OK, I got the answer by calling CSR. They recommended me to make a 2 night reservation today online, and call them tomorrow AM to add the third day. They put in a note on my account and said this was a one time exception.

Yes, that is definitely an exception to the rules. Normally, Open Season reservations are not changeable, they can only be cancelled (which invokes the cancellation penalties).

I wonder why they never allowed Open Season Reservations to be changeable. :ponder:
Maybe we just need to request an enhancement ;)

I think they should allow adding additional days but I don’t think that moving the reservation would be allowed. Just my opinion.

It has been reported that availability changes constantly during the Open Season Window.
Therefore, I would prefer the flexibility to add on days and to move to a more desirable travel date, unit size and/or unit type if one became available after I booked.

However I could see HGVC wanting some sort of limitation in place since it’s so close to checkin.

I have had them change an Open Season reservation for me once. I had a studio booked for a couple of nights at Valdoro, and a few days later a 1BR became available for the same dates. I called and they allowed the change, but probably because I was up-sizing and paid extra. They probably wouldn't have done it if I was going the other way.
