We are exchanging into a Wyndham resort via an RCI Exchange around New Year's, but can't stay a full week. Can we rent out the days that we can't use (via TUG), since we will be occupying the unit for part of the time? Or will that get us into trouble with RCI?

No, it is strictly against RCI's rules to rent out anything you get as an exchange.

Not by their policy.... Other issue is as a guest you will have to put credit card on file for duration of your RCI stay including days you are thinking of renting. This means others could damage or charge stuff to you.

All that said I book last minute deals / getaways all the time on RCI or II use for a few days like extended weekend then let kids have them rest of week if they have time off.

I also may book one for a Saturday checkin. Spend Saturday / Sunday Leave Sunday late evening - then go back Friday after work enjoy facilities again Friday Night an Saturday as most resorts continue to let you use facilities after check out. If something comes up and I can’t go back I just call resort and tell them I have checked out.

Perks living close to Orlando... This is really awesome when II does the under $100 for a week deals.

Also:

RCI will not give you a separate confirmation for half of the stay in the guest's name. The entire stay must be in the same name. If it's in a guest's name, you can't check in.

No renter who knows what they are doing will be interested in a rental if they can't get a confirmation in their name.
