I will be there next week. I watch the weather everyday. But, of course weather is unpredictable. We will be at Estes Park next Wednesday, then move on down to Breck Saurday. Plan on packing mostly jeans, maybe 1 pair of shorts, heavy shirts, t-shirts, hoody, and a rain poncho. The shorts will be for a day trip to Colorado Springs, warmer there correct? Coming from Florida, not used to cool weather, but the change will be good. Did I do good on what to pack? I forgot, comfortable shoes!

You can expect high 50's to mid 60's during the day. It will be 30 or so at night. Still pretty chilly. There may be some thunderstorms but not typical yet for this time of year. Your packing is pretty good but be careful of a day or two of chillier temps. Just pack one warmer jacket, just in case.

Colorado Springs, on the other hand, is wonderful this time of year. Expect high 70's and maybe some low 80's. The nights may go into the 40's but it doesn't feel that cold. The thunderboomers don't seem to have come in regularly yet but, you never know. Check the weather the day before you go to Co. Springs as it may not be warm enough for shorts yet. Also look at the wind as this time of year it can blow all day lowering the temp feel.

Make sure you eat at Eric's in Breck and go to the HAPPY HOUR at Bubba Gump' s for half price app's. That's the time to go and eat dinner with appetizers. Yummy. Breck is enjoyable almost any time of the year. Just not 3weeks before ski season opens as the anticipation is TOO much for me so I stay away that time of year. Once the mountain opens it's GO TIME.

Watch out. Visits to Colorado Springs cause many people to never go home. You may not want to leave.

Enjoy.

I'd pretty much agree with the previous post about the weather, although I'd increase the odds of at least one day of afternoon showers or thunderboomers.

Breckenridge, and all of Summit county, is one of my favorite Colorado mountain areas. The only problem I have with the area is the altitude, which ranges up to 10,000 ft at Breckenridge. That seems to bother me more than it used to. If you get over to Dillon try the Dam Brewery for lunch, probably named for it's location near the Dillon reservoir dam. Good food, good beer. I think it's better than the Breckenridge brewery.

Thanks

Thanks! I have Breck temperatures on my AOL Welcome screen. Lows 30's & highs around 60. I have a feeling I'll be packing more sweatshirts, than t-shirts! I'm sure Estes Park is about the same in temperature.

It can get into the low '90's in August but rarely does. You are more like to experience temps in the 70's and 80's and lows still in the 40's and maybe some 50's most nights. It is a crapshoot in the mountains. We have been at 9,000 feet the end of June and had six inches of snow. If you plan to go higher than Breckenridge, be sure you have warmer clothes and lots of water for hydration. Water makes all the difference at that altitude. :)

I can REALLY agree with the water statement. As a matter of fact drink near to 2 times your normal intake of water while in Breck. It will help take care of any headaches due to altitude. That's one of the most important pieces of advice you can get about breck.
