seen folks give away BG points for nothing all over facebook and such...is ROFR a new thing with bg?

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
BG has been more aggressive with ROFR in the last 12-18 months. I am not sure how many of the give aways actually make it past ROFR these days. Tiny contracts especially EOY small ones might make it through ok. Larger ones are taken if lower than $500-1000 depending on the size of the contract.

youd think they would just skip the middleman and offer deedbacks for those packages then :(

You would think so but offering a blanket deed back might open a flood where as there are probably a lot of lazyish/non proactive owners who even though they don't want the timeshare anymore aren't going to take the steps to actually find a buyer/taker so the rofr make a controlled stream, more than a trickle but less than a flood.

doesnt seem to have impacted any of the other major developers who have enacted the programs.

its also clear that they are fed up with their desperate owners being lured in by scammers that they are spending a fortune defending themselves in court from it.

its just one of those situations where both sides are preying on owners in the middle...and the only real losers are the owners.
