We are interested in Starwood preference mainly for Harborside units. What is the best trader with reasonable fees that would give us Starwood preference?

Sheraton Desert Oasis, true Platinum (1-21, 51-52) followed by Gold Plus (1-52). Low MF, but get the 2BR. 1BRs have disproportionately higher MF.

The next best trader is the Sheraton Broadway Plantation. Personally I would pick SDO over SBP.

The small 1Br at SBP is by far the best choice to me. I’ve had mine for 12 years now and used it to trade into Harborside and Westin’s many times.

When going through II it is recognized as a 1Br, not a studio, which is great. After12 years my MF are still only about $420 a year.

+1

We had one for eight years and traded it into Westin Hawaii units 7x and to the Red Wolf Lodge at Squaw once.

But we gave ours away a couple of years ago (along with our other SBP and SDO traders). My personal opinion is that Vistana will do something to minimize the trading advantage of these units and I didn't want to be owning a bunch of them when they attain negative value.

I'm confused by the difference at SDO for a week 1-52 unit (which I own) and what you are calling true Platinum. Other than not having a week 22-50 option what is the difference?

True platinum weeks have stronger trade powers. It has been tried and tested whenever Harbourside weeks were sighted. Three-season weeks were sold by Starwood after they bought over the property and management. Weeks 1-52 weeks were sold by prior developer, and are Gold Plus season. In Staroption terms, a 2BR platinum week is assigned 148.1K staroptions while a 2BR gold plus week (1-52) is assigned 81K staroptions.

I’m thinking since mine is an EOY-SDO, I’m going to keep it till 2020, because that is the point that I want to downgrade to one TS for my retirement years

We own at both SDO and SBP but my vote is for SBP --the small 1BR half of the lockoff.
